Enhancing Clostridioides difficile Diagnostic Stewardship at UPMC_online

Antibiotics are over-prescribed in the patient settings which leads to unnecessary healthcare costs, possible adverse events (e.g., allergic reactions), and drug-resistant micro-organisms. As a result, C. diff testing is being ordered inappropriately and samples are not collected in a timely manner, which leads to unnecessary hospital-associated infections.

This training is directed to educate the learner how to appropriately order C. diff testing based on accurate understanding of signs and symptoms of C. diff infection. They will also be able to interpret successful antimicrobial therapies to mitigate increased risk of C. diff infections.

Target Audience

This course is intended for physicians, physician assistants, nurses, nurse practitioners, pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and other allied health professionals.
